Preschool

The preschool cycle of the International French Lyceum of Panama is designed to accompany the integral development of the child from the age of 2. Through play, experimentation and language, students acquire the first tools that will allow them to build their future learning.

Objectives

At this stage, the main focus is to accompany the child's emotional, motor, social and cognitive development. The priority is not performance, but building a positive relationship with learning. Children learn to express themselves, to interact with others and to function with progressive autonomy. Oral language is a central tool in all activities and is used transversally in the daily routine.

Contents and programs

Preschool education follows the French national curriculum, organized into five interconnected domains. Far from a rigid compartmentalization, these learnings are intertwined through concrete experiences and projects adapted to the age of the children.   • Oral language: development of expression, active listening and understanding.
  • Physical activity: body control, spatial orientation, motor games.
  • Artistic expression: drawing, modeling, music, theater and free creativity.
  • Discovering the environment: observation of phenomena, daily life, nature.
  • Logical thinking and first concepts: shapes, colors, numbers, rhythm, sequence.

Learning takes place mainly in French, with a gradual introduction of Spanish and English.

Organization of the day

The day is designed to respect the rhythms of each child and ensure a balanced alternation between activity and rest. The day begins with a quiet welcome that favors the transition between home and school. Then there are collective moments, workshops for small groups, spaces for free play and structured activities.

The morning focuses on cognitive and linguistic activities, while the afternoon is more sensory, emotional and creative oriented. For the little ones, a nap adapted to their age is organized. Lunch is organized in an educational, caring environment that favors autonomy and interaction.
