Parents and representatives play a key role in school life, collaborating in decision-making and in the development of the school.

A Lycée that Involves Families

The Lycée Français International de Panama promotes an active relationship with families, allowing the participation of parents in school life through different representative bodies. This approach strengthens the educational community and ensures that decisions reflect the needs of students and their families.

Board of Directors: Legal and Financial Representation

The Board of Directors is the legal body that administers and manages the high school. It is made up of parent volunteers elected for a 2-year term, who are responsible for:

  • Oversee the financial and administrative management of the high school.
  • Approve budgets and plan investments.
  • Define the salary and hiring policy for teaching staff.
  • Participate in the strategic development of the high school, including infrastructure projects.

Establishment Council

El Consejo de Establecimiento es el órgano que trata los temas pedagógicos y educativos del Liceo. Define y aprueba elementos clave como el calendario escolar, el reglamento interno y el proyecto de establecimiento. Asimismo, puede emitir opiniones sobre cualquier asunto relacionado con la vida escolar, a solicitud del Director General.

Composición (con derecho a voto):

  • Representantes de la administración
  • Representantes del personal
  • Tres representantes de padres de familia: preescolar, primaria y secundaria (de TPS a Terminale)

Funcionamiento:

  • Se reúne al menos una vez por trimestre.
  • El Director General puede convocar un consejo extraordinario cuando sea necesario.

School Board: Active Participation in Academic Life

Parents of students of preschool and elementary school can be chosen for the School Council, a body where they work together with teachers and managers to:

  • Discuss and propose improvements in school life.
  • Ratify important decisions by voting.
  • Serve as a communication channel between families and management.

Specific Commissions for Key Topics

Parent representatives are also part of commissions that address specific issues such as:

  • Transportation and school safety.
  • Management of the Liceo restaurant.
  • External services related to student life.

Events Committee: Fostering an Active Community

The Events Committee organizes activities and celebrations that reinforce the sense of community within the high school. Its initiatives include:

  • The annual party - Kermesse, an event that brings together families, teachers and students.
  • Sporting events to promote coexistence and team spirit.
  • Cultural activities such as book fairs, green week, yard sale, national holidays, carnivals, mother's day, father's day...
