High School “Lycée”

The Lycée stage, which corresponds to the last three years of French secondary school, allows students to specialize, refine their skills and consolidate their intellectual maturity. Between the ages of 15 and 17, students prepare for the Baccalauréat exam and for access to higher education, in a framework that promotes demand, reflection and personal orientation.

General Objectives

The Lycée marks the culmination of the compulsory school journey in the French system. Its purpose is twofold: to allow each student to develop their academic potential and to accompany them in the definition of their life project.

The training is based on:

  • The development of a strong general culture.
  • The domain of scientific, literary, historical and philosophical reasoning.
  • The strengthening of autonomy and a sense of responsibility.
  • Active preparation for the challenges of the university and professional world.

Seconde class (10th grade)

Seconde acts as a year of transition. All students follow the same basic curriculum that allows them to maintain extensive training, while introducing a more individualized orientation logic.

During this year, academic explorations are offered that help students choose their specialty subjects for the following years. It is also a key moment to strengthen working methods and deepen understanding of the contemporary world.

Première (11th grade) and Terminale (12th grade) class

In Première and Terminale, students choose three and then two specialty subjects that structure their trajectory towards Baccalauréat. Teaching becomes more rigorous and specific, with a progressive level of demand.

These subjects allow the student's journey to be customized according to their academic interests, whether in the sciences, humanities, economics or the arts. In addition, common subjects such as philosophy, history-geography, languages, physical education and science are maintained.

Optional subjects

In addition to the compulsory curriculum, the Lycée offers complementary options that enrich the student's profile. These optional subjects may include:

  • Fine arts or music
  • Latin
  • Third foreign language
  • Economic sciences or technology

These options allow you to develop personal passions or reinforce a university application.

Diplomas

The final Lycée exam is the Baccalauréat, a demanding internationally recognized diploma. It evaluates both academic knowledge and transversal competencies (argumentation, analysis, written and oral expression).

The International French Lyceum of Panama also offers the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), a variant that integrates content in English and an international dimension valued by prestigious universities.

Continuity of studies

Thanks to the prestige of Baccalauréat, students graduating from the Lycée can access:

  • Universities in France and throughout the French-speaking area
  • International programs in Europe, North America, Asia or Latin America
  • Large schools and preparatory schools in France, including preparatory classes (CPGE)

The students are accompanied by an orientation team that guides them in their academic decisions and in the international application processes.

Organization of the day

The weekly structure of the Lycée is adapted to the levels of specialization and to the requirements of preparation for the final exam.

The days include:

  • Disciplinary courses with specialists in each area.
  • Hours of independent study or personalized support.
  • Regular evaluations in written and oral formats.
  • Simulated exams to familiarize yourself with the format of Baccalauréat.

The academic pace is sustained, but it is supported by a pedagogical environment that promotes trust, effort and personal balance.
