International Section

The International section is a program created and awarded jointly by the French Ministry of Education and the American College Board, which prepares students to study the BFI (French International Baccalaureate). This section is aimed at motivated students from CM1 to Terminale, who show a clear interest in the English language and North American culture, and who are able to take charge of their studies, organize and work effectively and consistently.

Advantages of the BFI diploma

The diploma obtained at the end of the course is the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), a reinforced version of the General Baccalauréat. This diploma includes:

  • Specific exams in history-geography in English.
  • Evaluations of American Language, Literature, and Civilization.
  • A high coefficient in international subjects (coef. 15), which reflects their real weight in the final grade.

This official recognition appears on the diploma with the mention “American international option”, highly valued by universities and international organizations.

Recruiting

Recruiting for the American International Section/BFI is selective.

The steps in this process are as follows:

File Of candidacy
Language tests in French and English of the 4 skills.
Individual oral interviewl with the language coordinator and the International Section.
— Study of the general academic level and recommendations of teachers.

The selection committee meets to decide on each student's application In June of each year for internal requests and in September ONLY for newly enrolled students.

SIA Enrollment Conditions

— Minimum level of French (A2 primary, B1 secondary)
— Minimum level of English (A2 primary, B1 secondary)
— Good general academic level
— Recommendations from teachers
— High level of personal motivation and work capacity
— Additional monthly tuition

IMPORTANT : Enrollment in the SIA implies a commitment on the part of the student to a full academic year.

Exit conditions at SIA

— The Class Council can issue a report in case of obvious learning difficulties in both SIA and general subjects.
— The family can submit an application. This will be examined by the committee, which will issue a favorable or unfavorable opinion only in June or September.

IMPORTANT : The exit from the SIA is a pedagogical decision taken by the SIA Committee and must remain exceptional. Dismissals during the quarter will not be accepted.
